From time to time i catch wind of new books that discuss FCLO and HVBO. I should post this information... so I'll start today.
Two books released in December include:
The 4-Hour Body: An uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Super Human By Tim Ferris
Killing Cancer- Not People by Robert G. Wright.
I have have not bought the books or read them so i can not provide a review.
Current book i am finishing is called Four Fish. Great read if you are concerned about the ocean and our food supply. Topics include: Over fishing, Politics ocean harvesting governing authorities, macro/long term costs vs's short term micro costs and the possible long term costs associated with the current micro cost system used today. Fish farming industry and the macro/micro cost struggles.
The author does a good job putting it all together but i would like a deeper discussion than how the author concludes. I see the issues in the ocean eco system the same as the issues within the agriculture/farm eco system.
If i were King for a day the world would limit the size fishing boats to a family size boat. With this one act fishing communities would thrive, prices would go up, quality would go up, and the ocean eco systems would be much more balanced. I would like to explore a fishing system similar to a rotating grazing system. The Governing body would open up ocean sectors for fishing, control the number caught and the rotate to a new sector. Each sector would not be re-fished until the stocks return or some scientific based time period. The number of fish/species could be determined prior to entry into each sector.
Same deal with farming. To take care of the soils and communities/people we need to return to small scale farming with the same outcome as small family size boats. Maybe we consider not allowing accumulation of wealth/property through a tax system that would allow for the first x acres to be passed on to the next generation (500 or 300 acres +/-) and the balance of the land is assessed a estate tax at a 50%+ rate. stop farm subsidies, and close loopholes that conflict with this goal of smaller farms..... or if there is a subsidies system it would work the oposite than current system. the smaller the farm the better the subsidy.
well, No Kings among us and we the people do not rule but rather money/laws we serve
Democracies are great if money/corporate and laws/attorneys are not the controlling interest served. It has been a very long time. Struggle is as always; People serving the Man or the Man serving the people... I think there is a biblical principle within this paradox ..Within The Book of Genesis and the Book of Enoch.... it depends on who 'Man' is defined as.
