I would like to share with your blog group some new information on the topic of Trans fats and enzyme P450 Cytochrome.
This Enzyme system is messed up by the trans fats in our diet. Sally Fallon shared with me that Dr. Mary Enig thesis focus was on this topic.
1. One of the key functions of this enzyme system is metabolism of Vitamin D in our bodies. Without this system functioning properly the vitamin D does not get to where it needs to go
2. Populations heavily dependent on an industrialized food chain (trans fat rich) you can bet that the population is also deficit in vitamin D activity. (sounds like the entire western world)
What is needed for good vitamin d activity/influences on vitamin D activity in ones body?
1. age, older you are the less the enzyme conversion takes place P450 cytochrome
2. health of organs such as kidney and liver (toxins in your body)
3 diet... trans fats are very difficult to eliminate in our personal food chain
4. diet, minerals and other factors effecting vitamin D, Boron, calcium, phos ect...
5. knowledge of vitamin D activity and relevance of measuring. There are many minor forms of vitamin D, not just D3. My guess is the story on vitamin D will change over time and what we think is important today might not be 100% the case 10 years from now.
6. genetics
This is why many people have complete different results taking the FCLO. no two people are the same. some take 2-4 (1/4 to 1/2 tsp) caps others need 2 tsp.
treat our oils like a whole sacred food rather than a drug when measuring/figuring.
