We provide our butter oil cows with Feed Grade Fermented Cod Liver Oil drizzled on their Redmond Salt. Cows love it and it is part of our nutrient dense strategy.

1 Milking Devon bull and 1 Milking Devon/Milking Shorthorn (called Milking Makaweili) bull. Heifer calves are available for possession now and the bulls possession would be this summer.

Vitamin D toxicity (usually asymptomatic hypercalcaemia) is exceedingly rare and few practicing physicians have ever seen a case [91], although that could change with the recent over-the-counter availability of 50,000-IU capsules. True toxicity is secondary to the unbridled effects of hypercalcaemia. First urine calcium, and then serum calcium, will begin to gradually increase when 25(OH)D levels exceed some level > 150 ng/ml and such levels must be associated with hypercalcaemia in order to indict vitamin D [2,48].

In the summer of 1974, brothers Frank and Cedric Garland had a heretical brainwave.

Our bodies do not use Vitamin D3 or D2 but rather these Hormones follow a enzyme pathway converting to a common usable form 1-25 dihydroxy vitamin D. As we age,. or if a person has issues that interrupt/slow down the natural conversion pathway, ones body might not convert as efficiently the vitamin D to 1-25 dihydroxy. I have seen specific studies that show the aging process does negatively effect the pathway efficiency.

Back in the 50's or 60's Dale Alexander wrote a couple books that focused much attention on the importance of taking Cod Liver Oil.

In His books he describes how to determine the correct dosage of cod liver oil based on ear wax flow. One should start off taking high doses until the ear wax flows then cut back. He described a healthy ear wax as having a tacky texture. If I recall he described a high dose of cod liver oil as a tablespoon.

For discussion purposes; There are over 3000 metabolites of Vitamin D known. Many of the metabolites are slightly understood, others very little is known about their action/pathway and few are routinely discussed (D2/D3). Many of the Metabolites will have different pathway's and actions in our health. For all you chemists out there, a new publication, "The Vitamin D Handbook' is now available that identifies and describes 900+ of these metabolites. Todays standard testing can only measure a handful of the different metabolites (maybe 4 to 10 of the species and at a very high cost).
