Vitamin A/Cod Liver Oil Note From Sally Fallon, President of WAPF
Tue, 2008-07-22 01:19 — daveDear Members,
We have recently received enquiries about several internet newsletters that have made disparaging remarks about cod liver oil. As the Weston A. Price Foundation recommends the use of cod liver oil as a nutrient-dense food, we thought it would be good to address the concerns that have been expressed, clarify our position and point out the science-based research that we have compiled on this subject.
Critics of cod liver oil have focused on three concerns:
1. Cod liver oil contains dangerous amounts of mercury and dioxins.
Why Fermented CLO/skate liver oil?
Thu, 2008-06-05 14:23 — daveI have not been complete in my posting to this question nor can I be complete in my post today. I have many, many questions on the subject that science simply is not ready to answer. I have come to the conclusion, after many discussions with a variety of scientists, that the questions I would most like answered science is not ready nor will it be ready to fully address for several decades.

Mon, 2008-06-02 13:58 — daveGreenPastures Note: The article below references CLO having low levels of Vitamin D. This is true for most commercial brands of CLO...The exception is Green Pastures CLO products.
Our Fermented clo has: has 600+ IU's D per ML or 3,000 IU's per teaspoon Vitamin D or 9,000 IU's of vitamin D per tablespoon. The High Vitamin CLO has 1,000 IU's Vitamin D per teaspoon or 3,000 IU's of vitamin D per tablespoon.
Old Books on cod liver oil and skate liver oil
Mon, 2008-05-19 14:45 — daveWe owe Julia Serra a thank you for providing links to two books that include references on the topic of Skate liver oil. Both books include writings on the topic of cod liver oil.
I was introduced to skate liver oil by a old Russian fisherman. He told stories of 'magical ' healing from the sea including skate liver oil.
Based on his input I knew that skate liver oil was important to provide for many in the community. I made the decision that the oil was important based solely on the stories told and began my work to bring the product to market.
Summer Hours
Mon, 2008-05-19 13:51 — daveSummer starts the season of butter oil production and milking cows. Many of you know that during butter oil production there are times it is more difficult to contact us by phone as we are pulled in many directions. All orders are processed efficiently but phone contact is strained.
I would like to encourage you to email any question you have and to enter your order directly on line. This includes wholesale accounts.
If you choose to call and are forwarded to voice mail please be assured your call will be returned but the timing of the return call might not be prompt.
Thank You
New Products by this summer...for the farm
Fri, 2008-05-16 16:12 — daveFermented Liquid Fish Liver for the soil and Feed Grade Fermented Cod Liver Oil.
We provide our butter oil cows with Feed Grade Fermented Cod Liver Oil drizzled on their Redmond Salt. Cows love it and it is part of our nutrient dense strategy.
We treat our land like we treat our bodies. Feed microbes living food and they will renew their host. It's no more complicated than this. Companies will pitch expensive organic and natural fertilizer programs but I'm not sure the expense is necessary. Look in your kitchen cupboard and common farm nutrients for life giving foods.

Vitamin D pathway efficiency is reduced with aging and a couple other trivial bullets
Wed, 2008-01-30 21:42 — daveOur bodies do not use Vitamin D3 or D2 but rather these Hormones follow a enzyme pathway converting to a common usable form 1-25 dihydroxy vitamin D. As we age,. or if a person has issues that interrupt/slow down the natural conversion pathway, ones body might not convert as efficiently the vitamin D to 1-25 dihydroxy. I have seen specific studies that show the aging process does negatively effect the pathway efficiency.
