Many in Green Pasture's community and beyond have been touched by Terry Gompert's work and life. I thought it would be appropriate to post on our blog the sad news that he passed away early Friday morning, March 25th.
Terry was our area's UNL Extension Forage Specialist. His passion was broad based. He was a world and local leader teaching many people in the areas of: grass fed dairy, raw milk, forges, small farm development, grass fed meat, entrepreneurial development of small farms, family, 4H, holistic management, raw milk as a fertilizer and much more.
His enthusiasm and encouragement will be missed.
On a personal note, he was our family's mentor in most of our work either direct or through his enthusiastic support. He mentored our family on the basics of grazing, farm management, cow management and general family farm life. Terry was responsible for suggesting/encourage our family to consider grass dairy farming 12 years ago when we knew nothing about farming.
Ten years ago, Barb (my wife) and I were visiting with Connie (Terry's wife) and Terry after a Bible study and were discussing plans for our family business. The name of Green Pasture Products was created in his living room that night.
It is safe to conclude, without our relationship with Terry, Green Pasture Produts would never have existed.
