COD LIVER PARTNER
Alaskan Leader Seafoods is very proud to be the exclusive Alaskan Cod Liver supplier for Green Pasture Products. We are a vertically integrated “Hook and Line“ fishing company in Alaska. Our vessels are the newest and the cleanest in the fleet and maintained so well that we are proud to fly the Maltese Falcon Cross; the symbol of inspection excellence from the American Bureau of Shipping. All of our vessels are American built, U.S. Coast Guard inspected and licensed. Our sustainable fishery is applauded by several conservation organizations including the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch and The Environmental Defense Fund as the most ecofriendly fishing method existing today. What sets us apart from other fishing companies is that our fleet is outfitted with a custom designed and patented Norwegian longline system that places single hooks along the ocean floor. This “one hook, one fish“ method of harvesting our catch is the most ecologically responsible and least intrusive on other species habitats.
At the helm of our vessels are Coast Guard licensed “Masters“ with an average of over 20 years fishing experience. They are medically trained and tasked to preserve safety at all costs, read technologically advanced electronic equipment that find the fish and are trained in meteorology. Their reaction skills must be razor sharp, but patient. At the rail of each of our vessels stands the skillful “Gaffer“. His hand to eye coordination and instincts must be as sharp as a tack. He and the Captain work together through hand signals and electronic communications and he must have impeccable timing. Often, he faces all that Mother Nature can give him, and he prevails by keeping our company well below the allowable by-catch species standards. At his sea level position, he can catch and release live un-targeted fish and carefully land the ones we are fishing for. This renders us as the absolute cleanest and healthiest method of harvesting Alaska Cod than any other commercial fishing technique. Over the rail, the fish go through an automated bleeding, cleaning and processing system designed by master food equipment technicians in Iceland learned from generations of tradition and research and development. The fish are thoroughly inspected by our onboard and HAACP trained Quality Control staff, then size graded into stainless steel freezing pans and quickly frozen to 30 degrees below zero so as to capture that “deep white and sweet ocean fresh” flavor.

The Story Behind Our Butter Oil
As a family, we kept cows on pasture and milked them for the butter oil we created for a number of years until it wasn't sustainable for us to do so any longer. We are now fully partnered with a farm in Argentina to assist us with some of our process. They have provided us with the following statement:
Our story starts back in the middle of the 19th Century—a time where in Europe there weren’t enough opportunities and our ancestors decided to emigrate to Argentina, South America, to get a new and fresh start.
Folks back then, started an enterprise importing goods from the old world such us olive oil, balsamic vinegar, wine and other kind of products. Once the World War I began, the Europeans went to fight and needed to import their food to survive. By that time, our Company started supplying large quantities of butter to the United Kingdom.
Slowly, the second-generation started to integrate the production of dairy goods getting involved not just in the expansion, but also in the milking. Dairy farming is hard work and requires dedication, but there are many rewards. The third and fourth-generation in the Company focused on dairy production, doing natural products for the local market and to foreign countries. Through the years we have maintained the belief that a sustainable approach to agriculture could help rural communities to survive as well as preserving the soil properties.
By chance or destiny we met Dave Wetzel, from Green Pasture. By that time, he was looking to develop one of his main products, the butter oil. The combination of climate, our generational involvement in the dairy business, our ability to produce the butter oil to Green Pasture's specifications, the land and cow base to meet his customers growing needs, our involvement in exporting products, some of the best soils in the world and our dedication to producing quality dairy products from our farm created a special family and company
Our dairy production is located in the heart of the Argentinean Pampas, one of the richest soils in the world. We have a great advantage, we are vertically integrated, in this way we are able to orientate our grasses and our milking production in order to develop the best natural butter oil, just like it was done by our ancestors in the past. It is important to remark that our cows are fed from green pastures every single day. We worked with Dave to match grazing and overall cow treatment protocols to Green Pastures needs and monitor the pastures and the resulting butter oil product's nutrient quality. The quality of the pasture and soil is what gives the butter oil we produce its excellent quality not only for Green Pasture's customers, but the natural and relaxed conditions enable us to provide the kind of products we want for our families and our community.

COCONUT OIL SUPPLIER
We source the virgin organic coconut oil used for our Blue Breeze™ Virgin Organic Coconut Oil, Blue Breeze™ Organic Coconut Ghee and Blue Ice™ Complete Oil Blend from a USDA certified organic coconut plantation and processing plant in the Philippines called Nature's Blessings.

Nature's Blessing Statement
Since Nature’s Blessings owns the USDA certified organic coconut plantation, we are able to pick the nuts at exactly the right age. The nuts are delivered on the same day to our processing plant which is also right in the coconut plantation. The coconuts are de husked, grated and the fresh coconut meat is cold-pressed and filtered. Our process retains the enzymes, lauric acid and all the other immune system building nutrients. Except for picking and opening the nut, there is little human handling in our process. Stainless steel mechanical equipment is used in order to provide a sanitary controlled environment in the processing plant. The coconut oil is strained and immediately bottled. No chemicals or preservatives are added. Every batch of VCO undergoes strict quality control, prior to distribution. You only get pure unadulterated virgin coconut oil.
